It's a daunting project, and I wasn't sure it was going to happen. But I'm on the road now, doing a five-week education expedition across the United States. Thanks for everyone who helped me get going!
The goal of this project is finding glimpses of how we will learn in the future. And how did my journey unfold until now? March 3rd marked the official beginning, flying in from Berlin to attend the
Creative Commons Salon NYC on Opening Education. The panel discussion that evening between
Dave,
arvind, and
Kerri was an eye-opener, and seemed years ahead of most I've seen in Germany.
Dave and arvind are also among the New York educators who organized
TEDxNYED while I was in town, a one-day event examining the role of new media & technology in shaping the future of education. I managed to interview speakers
George Siemens and
Michael Wesch, as well as several participants. Thanks for giving me the oportunitiy!
Other highlights in New York include meeting
Malin Berdette and
Kaoru Wang and visits to
The Blue School and
Brooklyn Friends School. From there my journey took me to Cambridge MA, Philadelphia, and now Washington DC. I will post more on these later.
All in all it has been an exhausting, exhilarating project up to this point. Unfortunately I haven't been able to share much online yet, and that marks the big difference to the
ten-day education expedition we did across Germany. I'm on my fifth tape of interviews though, and hope to be able to share more with you soon. For now, I leave you with this: Hello world.
